Common cold and Covid -19 Symptoms

8th Sep 2020

If your child has a cold or runny nose what do you do?

Please follow guidance from the Education Minister on COVID-19 in educational settings.

Children should be kept at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to avoid spreading infection to others. In lots of cases your child may be well enough to attend nursery school,if it is a mild cold.In other cases, for instance where they have quite a heavy cold, and are generally unwell, they may need to takea few days off nursery to recover and this is extremely common with children so young.

This is not the case for children and young people with potential COVID-19 symptoms, they are required to self-isolate and seek a test through www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test

It is vitally important to be clear about how COVID-19 symptoms differ from those of other infections that we normally see circulating at this time of year.

It is important that all of us that we are vigilant in recognising the symptoms of COVID-19 and understand what actions we should take if someone develops them, either at nursery or at home.
